AdVal in tank shoot up

AdVal Learning Solutions has been shooting tanks.

The learning solutions provider is filming trials of new Alvis Vickers Ltd (AVL) tanks in development for the MoD as part of its contract to provide blended training to their crews.

Much of the footage will be used for training videos delivered as bite-size learning 'chunks' via interactive DVD, reports the Aylesbury-based learning solution provider.

AdVal is working with AVL for the Engineer Tank Systems on the introduction of two vehicles to service in 2005: TITAN - an armoured bridge laying vehicle, and TROJAN - an armoured obstacle-clearing vehicle.

"Video will communicate subjects such as casualty evacuation, which are otherwise difficult to teach whether in the classroom or on the training area," says AdVal Learning Solutions director Peter Bonfield at the second in a series of three shoots taking place at the Army's trials site at Bovington, Dorset.

The shoot, part of the development of a training package for the Army's Royal Engineers division, is being filmed concurrently with the conduct of reliability growth trials on the vehicles.

The training constitutes a blend of practical exercises underpinned by computer-based training and is being developed in step with the development of the vehicles themselves.
