Da Sing 'upbeat' at Expo
Riva Schuh Garda
One of more than 1,000
companies showcasing latest offerings to over 10,000 visitors at June's
Expo Riva Schuh international trade fair for footwear in Italy, Da Sing
Shoes revealed improved turnover on the back of sustained investment in
manufacturing consolidation, in-house design resourcing, and the
introduction of accessories lines.
Despite difficult global
trading conditions, the Hong-Kong based company's results chimed with the
opinion of Roberto Pellegrini, president of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi
in his post-event summary: "From what we have seen over these four days,
we can say that the crisis has stimulated companies rather than slowing
them down.
"Many have invested more
than ever into their products and, while keeping prices low, presented a
high-fashion range. And this definitely proved to be a success factor".
Da Sing sources from its
factories in China on behalf of major retail groups, catalogue and online
retail customers throughout the UK, Ireland, Continental Europe,
Australia, South Africa and Canada.
Managing director David
Brook agreed that design innovation and a "flight to value" in the volume
market has proven a fillip in sales terms for the company.
"It's given us an edge," he
said. "Added investment in our own design resources brings improved
product knowledge and information together with more accurate catwalk and
foresight trends of exclusive benefit to our customer base.
"Our new bag offer has been
well received and is being improved during the coming twelve months. We
are also broadening our product sourcing within China, where we enjoy
exclusive and sustained trading partnerships with high quality producers.
"Expo Riva Schuh measures
the benefits of these initiatives. Despite a lower turnout this year from
regular attendees, particularly from the UK, we were delighted with the
quality of visitors to our stand and the level of enquiries," Brook
added.
"Sales are currently
seventy per cent up for the first half of this year and the signs for the
second half are highly encouraging."
