UV inkjet curing gets smaller,
lighter, serviceable
Inkjet printing benefits from previously unachieved compactness and low body
weight in Integration Technology Ltd's (ITL) latest generation of semiconductor
light matrix (SLM) technology curing using ultra-violet (UV) light emitting
diodes (LED).
ITL is showing for the first time at this year's Labelexpo Europe, the world's
largest event for the label, product decoration, web printing and converting
industry.
Specifically designed for inkjet curing applications, the class leading compact
footprint and ultra light weight of ITL's new Solidcure™ technology is combined
with high intensity output.
The outcome enables the creation of miniature UV inkjet systems, hitherto
unavailable, and the first truly serviceable SLM says the Oxford, UK-based
innovator.
On show on Stand 9G45, Solidcure™ is offered at a standard array length of
70mm, scalable to suit each application in steps of 7mm up to a maximum length
of 1000mm.
The Solidcure™ array offers further unique advantages in that it can be
specified as standard to emit 365, 375, or 405 nm wavelengths (385 and 395 nm
to order) permitting a perfect match to the chosen ink chemistry.
Precise water cooling ensures that LEDs operate at the optimum temperature
irrespective of the installed environment while the clear acrylic housing
allows for easy confirmation of coolant flow whilst dramatically reducing
weight.
LED failure or accidental damage can render an array unserviceable.
However, the plug-in feature of the Solidcure™ array enables each LED module to
be inexpensively replaced making it the first truly serviceable SLM device.
Solidcure™ systems can be supplied complete with matching power supplies and
cooling devices as required.
