Sonja's MASK Wakes the Dream in the club charts

Prog rock chanteuse Sonja 'Curved Air' Kristina has not been resting on her laurels of late. Her latest venture, Mask has a single riding up the UK Club charts.

'Waking the Dream - Remix' from Mask's 'Heavy Petal' album (Mandalic) has gone straight in at Number 30 in the Music Week Commercial Club Top 30 chart this week. It's also scored a Number 16 placing in the Up Front Club Breakers Chart.

"A webcast is being streamed in the near future as part of the single's promotion," says Sonja who describes the new promo film for the single from Tentacle Film's director Jordan Copeland as a "riotous psychedelic romp!" 'Waking the Dream' is available as a download via iTunes and 7 Digital.

Midway through recording its second album while tour dates are finalised for 2007, MASK is Sonja in collaboration with talented multi-instrumentalist and ambient producer/composer Marvin Ayres. The project combines experimental voice and string soundscapes, and mixes extemporisation with structured songs and beats.
With audio-visual installations, special lighting and use of film, dancers and actors, MASK is a highly theatrical experience live, an artistic fusion the two dub: "New Wave Cabaret".

A new format Dual Disc (CD and DVD) album, "Heavy Petal" constitutes 15 audio tracks and a 5.1 Surround Sound DVD entitled ‘Healing Senses’ including film performances of three of the tracks that interweave sound with filmic imagery and visual atmospherics to add a further and immersive dimension to the music. UK label Market Square meanwhile is extending its catalogue of Sonja Kristina solo album reissues with a first ever CD release of her 1979 debut, "Sonja", with rare bonus tracks from her 1980s output.
