GRTR! casts net wider
A new podcasting service for music labels, PR companies and artists has
gained its first client in popular classic rock website Get Ready To Rock! (GRTR!)
The inaugural Get Ready To RockCast! from UK production company RockCast (
www.rockcast.co.uk ) launches this
week and includes interviews with Joey Tempest (of Swedish rockers Europe),
Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) as well as new music from Delta and 25 Yard
Screamer in a regular slot for up-and-coming artists.
The 30 minute-duration podcast will be beamed to over 200,000 unique
visitors per month via the GRTR! website
www.getreadytorock.com and
syndicated via RSS (really simple syndication) to news aggregators and music
websites.
Launched in 2003 , GRTR! has established itself as one of the leading
classic rock/pop websites with regularly updated news, interviews and and
review content.
David Randall for GRTR! says: “A professionally-made podcast truly enhances
visitor experience of the site, bringing it even more alive. It signposts
things to look out for. Listeners can hear more of the featured interviews
by going to the website. It’s also an opportunity to hear full-length
tracks.”
Peter Muir for RockCast adds: "This is an exciting new model for connecting
the music industry to its customers. Our podcasts can be tailored to artist,
label and PR requirements and include a mix of news, interviews and music
content. They can be used as a compulsive viral promotion tool, showcasing
new releases, artists, and gigs."
RockCast’s production team, based in Milton Keynes, has 30 years experience
in music news media, recording and broadcast and can generate original
content or use material supplied by clients.

-
Professionally produced in high-bit MP3 quality and compatible with a range
of hardware including the iPod
Who will host my podcast?
Costs - outgoings
Costs depend on the podcast length (we recommend 30 minutes), and the amount
of originally sourced content (for example, original interviews).
It's worth noting that, for a limited period, we are offering free hosting
(worth £85 per year) and yearly contracts for a series of 'casts will
attract discounts.
We’ll also syndicate your podcast free of charge to podcast aggregators and
directories, including iTunes.
Costs - payback
-
Spread your costs amongst your artist clientbase (i.e. a buy-in). Or let us
produce an annual artist review (showcasing the year’s events, key releases
etc)
-
Target your podcast at key music websites and aim to capture some of the
$1bn global online music market **
-
In the UK alone there is a potential music-buying audience of 30 million and
8 million active online music users***
-
If you could reach just 10 per cent of that audience, converting at 1 per
cent you could make 8,000 sales per month - more than recouping the outlay.
And that's just the UK…!
-
Move to a listener paid-for service, and generate income for you and/or your
clients.
